In the heart of Afghanistan, a skilled artisan dedicated over a month to meticulously crafting a stunning wooden cupboard, each panel a labor of love. The wood, sourced from ancient trees, was finely carved with intricate designs that told the stories of generations. Once the woodwork was complete, four beautiful ceramic tiles were carefully embedded into the lovingly crafted panels, their vibrant colors and detailed patterns complementing the rich tones of the wood. Each tile depicted scenes from Afghan folklore, adding a layer of cultural significance to the piece. This cupboard was not just a functional item; it was a work of art, connecting the past to the present and showcasing the beauty of Afghan craftsmanship. As the final touch was applied, the artisan stepped back to admire a creation that was destined to be cherished for years to come, a symbol of heritage and artistry.

These beautiful rugs are woven by women who have been displaced within the country due to the impacts of climate change. This income serves two vital purposes: providing financial stability for the weavers and enabling them to explore livelihoods beyond agriculture.

The Weavers’ Story
Each Carpet is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted by hand. Men handle tasks such as spinning and dyeing the wool, as well as washing the finished rugs, while the weaving is done by women from Faryab province in Afghanistan, often within their own homes. This partnership allows Azizi Art to contribute their designs, empowering the women and showcasing their craftsmanship to a global audience.
